2011 Series Concerts on the Baywood Pier

STANLEY STERN

Stanley202

After two very successful concerts the 2011 season has now closed.

Our Impresario, Admiral Stanley Stern, deserves special recognition for the hard work that he puts into making Boatzart the unique and popular concert that it is.

Boatzart is the only concert where the audience can either sit on the banks of the Morro Bay or sit in their boats to listen with the musicians performing on the Baywood pier located between them.

Stanley has a long history in the music world. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York he fell in love with the cultural opportunities that New York City offered (free in those days). Learning to play the piano he developed a passion for music. While attending Brooklyn College he spent a great deal of his time with the music and drama departments, worked in the school’s music library and helped with concert set ups. Occasion he was hired as a piano accompanist.

After a stint with the U. S. Air Force Stanley returned to Brooklyn College to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Theater and from there began his career in music. Stanley spent time with touring theater companies, children’s music programs, and teaching music in public schools both in New York and then in Los Angeles. It was in LA that he met his loving and supportive wife Carol.

Upon retirement he and Carol moved to Los Osos but Stanley couldn’t retire from music. He first started by sponsoring and performing in house concerts in his large music room and then expanded his horizon by producing music programs for various organizations in the county. Early on he joined the Baywood Navy and when the Motzart Festival dropped Baywood as a venue, Stanley stepped right in and established our now famous Boatzart concerts held on a high tide Sunday each summer.

Thank you Stanley for the fun and entertainment that you have brought to our community.
